Atualização do abaixo-assinadoWorld leaders: Please act to save our lives in AleppoA new depth of inhumanity

Dear friends, I am sure many of you already know our brief break from the constant bombardment in Aleppo has come to an end. As if to officially signal the death of the ceasefire, on Monday night an aid convoy on its way to my city was attacked in a series of strikes, killing innocent aid workers and the rescue workers who tried to save them. It is yet another step into a new depth of inhumanity that I can hardly comprehend. I cannot tell you how desperately we needed the food and medical supplies in that convoy. But instead of delivering a month’s worth of lifesaving aid for over 185,000 people, our lifeline sat burning in the night, its supplies left to smoulder. With the ceasefire in tatters, deliberate attacks like this have begun again in earnest. On Tuesday night, more strikes tore through ambulances when they came to rescue the victims of a previous attack on the medical triage point in Khan Touman, Aleppo. Four members of the Union of Medical Care and Relief Organizations were killed and a nurse is in critical condition. For how much longer will the world sit by and let these crimes continue? As I write this, world leaders are gathered in New York for the UN General Assembly. The international community must use this opportunity to end the impunity the perpetrators of these crimes enjoy. Please, lend your voice to the many who are calling for an end to these attacks and for accountability for those who perpetrate them. My friends at the withSyria campaign have made a short clip to keep the world’s eyes on what’s happening in my home. Can you share it and ask what it will take for the world to act? http://bit.ly/AidAttacks These attacks against my colleagues and my community are war crimes. Those responsible must not go unpunished. Thank you, Dr. Hamza.
