Change Construction Start Time to 9 am in Toronto During Covid-19 Pandemic.
Why this petition matters

We are in the middle of a global pandemic and many of us are doing our part by staying home which happens to be the one place we can find solace. This unprecedented and incredibly stressful situation is being aggravated by the construction occurring around the city of Toronto. Bylaws state that construction hours are between 7 am and 7 pm which means many of us are woken up by loud noises daily.
Mental health is key to making it through these trying times and sleep plays a very important role. We understand that construction has been deemed an essential service and rightfully so as there are many people waiting for homes and projects to be completed. That said, there is no reason why the bylaw cannot be changed temporarily to adapt to this new normal we are experiencing because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
We are all trying to do our best by contributing to society in any way we can and we ask that the City of Toronto do their part as well by temporarily changing the noise bylaw (Chapter 591, City of Toronto Municipal Code) start time to 9 am. This will allow those working from home, front line workers and anyone else living in construction areas to achieve a little peace first thing in the morning before starting their day.
Please join me and thousands of other residents in the city of Toronto by signing this petition to change the noise bylaw start time to 9 am.
