Add Other Disney Heroines to the Disney Princess Lineup
The Issue
These Disney girls deserve to be princesses as much as the "Official" ones. They are characters of classic Disney films and new favorites.
Here's how Disney defines a princess:
Either royal by birth, royal by marriage, or considered a "princess" due to their significant portrayal in their film and/or a very high status in their country/ region.
Now here are the girls I want to become princesses:
Vannelope von Schweetz (pictured above), in film "Wreck-It Ralph" and princess/ruler of the fictional video game, Sugar Rush.
Jane Porter, in film "Tarzan", she is the mate/wife of Tarzan, who is the ruler of the gorillas.
Tiger Lily, character in film "Peter Pan", she is son of the great chief and princess of the island of Neverland.
Kida, from the film "Atlantis: The Lost Empire". She is the child of the King and Queen of Atlantis.
Eilonwy (I-lone-wee), from "The Black Cauldron". Born royalty, princess/daughter of Angharad (on-ga-RAD), daughter of Regat (r-EE-gat) of the Royal House of Llyr (lEEr). Father was a commoner named Geriant (Je-rEE-ent) but her maternal gradfather was Llyr Half-Speech, The Sea King. The film "The Black Cauldron" was a movie people were exited to see, but infamously scared children who saw it.... a lot. Today, it would be PG-13 so for a Disney movie it was violent for the time. Disney has tried their best to put the film behind them and erase it from history. It is not available to buy, except from private sellers, and is not widely publicized.
Faline, from "Bambi", royal by marriage to Bambi, Prince of the forest.
Giselle, from "Enchanted", originally planned to be a princess. Disney did not make her an official princess because they didn't want to pay royalties to Amy Adams, despite having millions of dollars.
Nancy Tremaine, also from "Enchanted", royal by marriage to Prince Edward and is princess of Andalasia.
Megara, of "Hercules". She married a son of the god Zeus, ruler of Mount Olympus.
Esmerelda, "Hunchback of Notre Dame". Esmerelda helps Quasimodo and is the leader of the gypsies.
Nala, "The Lion King" is the wife of Simba, who is... The Lion King.
Maid Marian, of "Robin Hood" is a noble woman and favored by the king.
Dot, of "A Bug's Life" is princess of the ants.
Adda, "A Bug's Life", is the heir to the throne of the ants, but is princess for now.
Sally, "The Nightmare Before Christmas", is officially married to the "Pumpkin King", Jack Skellington, and is therefore, the "Pumpkin Queen".
Alice "Alice in Wonderland", she is, in the books, crowned Queen of the Looking-Glass Kingdom (Through the Looking Glass and what Alice Found There).
