First I must apologize for the late update, but all of the emotions we feel have taken some time to sink in and process and truly they will never fully process, as this whole ordeal has been too hard to comprehend.
On December 13th, there were numerous speeches read and many letters submitted to the Judge and Prosecutors, in support of Johnny receiving intense probation and not prison time. It was an extremely emotional day.
We are very saddened to say despite our best efforts, Johnny was sentenced to 5 years in prison. That sentence is at 50% time served, therefore with his time already served which is 18 months, it means Johnny will be home to us in January of 2020.
Our family and especially Johnny will stay strong and stay committed to Johnny's life of recovery and helping others with the disease of addiction. We are very proud of the young man he is and the strides he has made to better his life.
Addiction is a disease that affects the whole family and the community, we will continue to get the word out there that this disease needs to be treated like all others, we cannot incarcerate our way out of this epidemic, we ask you to please help us spread the word.
We look forward to the day our family is reunited again. We would like to thank all of our family, friends and the community for your continuing support through this difficult time.
