Keep Access to Abortion Legal and Safe

Keep Access to Abortion Legal and Safe
The Issue
On February 6th 2020, the Oklahoma house passed bill 1182 which proposes that any doctor that preforms an abortion would face a $500.00 fine, federal charges, and the loss of their medical license.
While the bill seems to account for situations where abortion would be medically necessary, it does not account for other situations such as; rape, incest, underage pregnancy, not being able to afford the medical bills, the emotional scars of previous miscarriages, not being able to afford to care for the child after birth, or the trauma of having to birth a child only to then have to give it up. These and infinite other circumstances are all reasons that abortion is a personal choice.
Removing access to safe abortion will inevitably result in people seeking out unsafe alternatives to avoid the psychological trauma of having to carry an unwanted pregnancy to term.
We cannot donate organs of a deceased person without their premortem written consent, even if it means the loss of a life of someone still living. By removing a persons choice to carry or not carry a pregnancy to term you are giving them fewer rights than a corpse.
The above considered one can only deduce that abortion should remain legal, accessible, and safe.
As voting citizens of Oklahoma we wish to see Bill 1182 rejected for the safety, health, and well being of fellow Oklahomans, who deserve their bodily autonomy intact.
