Replace Large Cell Towers by homes and schools in San Elijo and San Marcos with Safer Small Cell sites and implement an enforceable cell ordinance.

Replace Large Cell Towers by homes and schools in San Elijo and San Marcos with Safer Small Cell sites and implement an enforceable cell ordinance.
The Issue
Replace Large Cell Towers by San Elijo and San Marcos Homes with Safer Small Cell Systems
AT&T is installing a Large 12 antenna Cell Tower within San Elijo and San Marcos next to an existing 12 antenna T-Mobile Tower. The proposed San Marcos Ordinance will allow two more Macro Cell Towers on this property and within San Marcos.
Residents are opposed to expanding Large Macro Cell Towers within San Marcos for the following reasons:
-Health risks associated with exposure to these facilities.
-Impact to home values.
-We can get cell coverage faster and safer with small cell technology.
-Negative impact to the aesthetics of our community.
-Noise, safety and fire concerns with the construction and operation of these towers.
Cell Towers have many negative impacts on our community without offering a positive return. One property owner profits while the community suffers.
Most important, are San Marcos health concerns. The San Elijo Hills community bordering these two Macro Towers is full of children just 200 feet from the cell towers maximum RF emissions. These towers are in a residential area directly between our existing and new K - 8 schools.
A UCLA Department of Epidemiology article titled "The Sensitivity of Children to Electromagnetic Fields" stated:
"Consistent epidemiologic evidence of an association between childhood leukemia and exposure to extremely low frequency (ELF) magnetic fields has led to their classification by the International Agency for Research on Cancer as a "possible human carcinogen."
“Concerns about the potential vulnerability of children to radio frequency (RF) fields have been raised because of the potentially greater susceptibility of their developing nervous systems; in addition, their brain tissue is more conductive, RF penetration is greater relative to head size, and they will have a longer lifetime of exposure than adults." The World Health Organization has also labeled this radiation a “potential carcinogen”.
The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) found significant differences in radiation absorbed by 5 year olds (skull thickness .5mm), 10 year olds (skull thickness 1mm) and adults (skull thickness 2mm) from mobile phone radiation. The same radiation is emitted from these cell towers 24/7 into our community. Clearly age plays a factor in radiation penetration.
AT&T is building a 35 foot tower and T-Mobile/Crown Castle will be renewing and expanding its tower creating more visual blight and changing the aesthetics and skyline of San Elijo Hills forever. Your home could be next.
AT&T and T-Mobile may claim these macro towers will improve cell reception when, in fact, they can improve our cell service safer, faster and with less visual pollution by using small cell and DAS technology.
The cell companies are exposing our community to a possible health threat and decreased home values because these Macro Towers are more profitable for them. Some Cities are demanding these cell companies replace Macro Towers and use only small cell technologies.
Please sign this petition and forward to your neighbors and friendsand let AT&T, T-Mobile and the City of San Marcos know that we do not want Macro Cell Towers next to our homes and our schools; we want cell ordinances that protect our neighborhoods. Let’s keep these Cell Towers away from our children and community.
