Sitting here July 2nd at the beginning of the 4th of July weekend. What should be a happy relaxing enjoyable weekend is for me and many many others a time period filled with fear and anxiety for our loved ones both human and 4 legged. So many suffer such terror during this time and now all year long. The Veterans that suffer from PSTD. Our 4 legged babies that go through horrible fear, some so bad like my sweet Molly that even suffers from seizures brought on by these days and nights of terror. The busiest day at the Animal Shelters is July 5th. Let me be clear, I am not totally against fireworks, although it wouldn't really be that terrible of a thing if I never heard another one. I just think the laws supporting them are ridiculous. Do you know the laws for Fireworks for the County in Allen County. They are legal 365 days a year from 9:00am until 11:00pm and 12:00am on Holidays. Leaving only 9 - 10 hours a day of peace for some. I know that I am not alone that finds this unexceptable?  I was shocked when I found out that the laws had changed. In a call to my local sheriff's office I was also shocked to learn that there are no longer any illegal fireworks either. Now I guess the cool thing is actually making bombs out of sparklers. They are called sparkler bombs. They sound 100 times louder then any fireworks. It was also just reported on my local news firework injuries were up 50% last year. In 2020 there were 10,300 injuries due to fireworks in the US. 66% happened between June 21 and July 31st. 44% were from Burns. 900 injuries from Sparklers. There were 18 deaths. Just last night a man died in Huntington, IN from a mortar exploding. A fireworks display for a show in Maryland exploded before they even lit the 1st one. Luckily no one was seriously injured.  A mishap involving fireworks on the Fourth of July took the life of Columbus Blue Jackets goalie Matiss Kivlenieks. What's it going to take before people wake up and realize changes have to be made ? It's exactly why I started this fight. Yes it's personal for me as far as my dogs but human life and our Veterans also is a huge factor. We can make this better. It's time to give our veterans and our 4 legged babies their Independence Day from the horrible fear that they suffer. I beg you to help me get these laws amended and/or changed. Please sign this petition. We also need phone calls and e-mails sent telling these representatives your stories and how you're effected by the current laws. Tell them you want them changed. 365 days a year is not acceptable. There also need to be stricter laws on the types of fireworks. A lot of these explosives need to be illegal like they use to be. Below is all the information that you need to contact your Senators and Legislators. Remember that Jim Banks is a Veteran. He should understand the PSTD more than anyone. Talk to him. Tell him how you feel along with the others and please share this with all of your family and friends.

Thank you
