As always, thank you for your dedicated support and kindness. In signing and sharing this petition you are joining a movement that will work tirelessly to ensure the future is brighter and better for our younger generations facing cancer.
One of our scheduled monthly meetings with the Department of Health and Social Care took place on Tuesday evening. Opportunities such as this, to discuss this petition and the ways in which we can move forward in improving the earlier diagnosis of cancer, with a specific focus on young adults, is, of course, invaluable. Working alongside Primary Care experts and leads in Cancer Services is heartening and gives us hope for the future.
With the backing of the Secretary of State for Health, Steve Barclay (who, we have been told, has ‘tasked’ the team to work alongside us) we remain committed to making a difference in Jess’ name.
In 3 weeks' time, accompanied by the team from the DHSC, we have been invited to meet with Professor Kamila Hawthorne, Chair of the Royal College of GPs. Once more, we have been asked to share Jess’ story. This is never an easy thing to do. We remain shocked and devastated by the loss of our precious daughter. However, we are assured that RCGP is committed to ‘improving clinical excellence and raising standards', so this is the right thing to do. Those of you who have followed Jess’ campaign in the last two years will know that, for us, a key element in improving earlier diagnosis is focusing on Primary care.
Thank you so much for your continued support. With you by our side, we are determined to make a difference.
