This is Jess. She was born on the 28th of October 1993. Perfect. She had everything to live for. We had every expectation that she would live a long, rewarding and contented life - we at least took every precaution to enable her to achieve that. Or so we thought. We had every confidence, that if her health failed, our wonderful NHS would intervene at the highest level. Unfortunately, our underfunded NHS is not currently fulfilling its potential. When it comes to cancer we need specialists in GP practices to achieve early diagnosis. We need annual, statutory cancer training for GPs. We need ring-fenced funding for diagnostic testing. We need Jess’ Law: a minimum expectation in achieving referrals and testing.
Whilst we remain grateful to Steve Barclay, the Secretary of State, for his kindness and support in meeting us. There remains no clear course of action, yet. This week, please share this petition, and encourage another person to sign it. We will get there but we need more people behind us. We need more people to be aware that young lives are being lost. A long and healthy life is not a given but at least everyone should have the chance. This is 4 Jess and everything she lost and was unable to achieve. Her bucket list was long and hopeful.
As always thank you so much for your continued positivity and unfailing support.
