Petition to Keep Novato’s Garbage Collection Rates Affordable!

 We, the undersigned, are concerned about the Novato Disposal sale to Recology and increases to our low Garbage Collection rates.  If the Novato Sanitary Board approves Recology as the successor to Novato Disposal without a Public Bid process our rates could increase 32% or more.  Don’t let a new out of county Garbage Company stick you with the cost of the purchase price of Novato Disposal.

What we want:

1.    A fair and transparent public bid process to obtain the best quality garbage removal and recycling service at the lowest price.

2.    Limitations on requests for rate increases restricted to the Refuse Index as used by other local jurisdictions and subject to third party review to insure that rate increase requests are justified and fair.

3.    Legal language to restrict the bid winner from passing any rate increases associated with the cost of purchase to the ratepayers.

4.    Keep our rates affordable.

5.    An end to Debris Box Monopoly.  Debris Box Competition will result in competitive pricing and premium service.
