Thanks for all your support in this campaign. It's great to see how many of us love Coningham Beach.
This jet ski tour business commenced operating at Coningham Beach without any public consultation. It was assessed as a home-based business by Kingborough Council.
Now it appears that MAST is considering introducing a jet ski lane (effectively a Swimmer Exclusion Zone) to facilitate the operation of this business at Coningham Beach. The potential introduction of this "lane" is reportedly at the request of the business operator and is being considered by MAST as a way of addressing public concerns about the safety risks that this business poses to swimmers. Such a proposal to exclude swimmers from a part of Coningham Beach which is universally loved by the community as a safe swimming beach appears to fly in the face of logic. Especially when the jet ski tour business could be run from available marinas.
It's time we made sure that the continued operation of this business at Coningham Beach is put to bed. The jet ski tours need to move. If you agree please share this petition widely and email the Minister for Infrastructure who is responsible for MAST to let him know that you do not support the continued operation of this jet ski tour business at Coningham Beach.
