Spotted in today's Daily Telegraph. We don't need the Telegraph to tell us that street trees are a vital part of city living. But the Woodland Trust survey showing that almost 80% of city dwellers would miss trees if they were gone does throw Sheffield Council's claim that 'most people' in Sheffield are happy with the tree felling into sharp relief. Joseph Coles Woodland Trust project leader for street trees: "With 80% of the UK's people living urban settlements, street trees are their main daily contact with nature."
