Recently, Yandy.com removed their sexy 'Handmaid's Tale' costume because of severe backlash. While this certainly was a victory, there is still more work to be done.

    Yandy.com has a total of 43 "sexy Indian costumes" and around 6 "sexy Mexican and Día de los Muertos costumes". News flash: people's cultures aren't costumes. This blatant redfacing and brownfacing is not acceptable in any way, shape or form.

    Of reported rapes, 12% of victims are Latinx and a jarring 34% are Native American. And that doesn't even cover unreported rapes or sexual harassment. To dress up as a "sexy Native American" or "sexy Mexican" is to spit in the face of the Native American and Latinx victims of sexual violence and harassment, and all other Natives and Latinxs as well.

    So no, Yandy.com, cultural appropriation is not a "sexy costume", it's wrong.
