Jefferson County needs a TNR* Ordinance

Jefferson County needs a TNR* Ordinance
The Issue
TNR (*Trap Neuter Vaccinate Return) is the humane solution to cat overpopulation in Jefferson County Missouri.
Resident volunteers have quietly been providing food, shelter, and veterinary care for our community cats for many years. Unfortunately existing animal ordinances put our compassionate neighbors at risk for expensive fines, and their neutered and vaccinated kitties in danger of euthanasia.
St. Louis, Kansas City, St.Charles City and St. Charles County Animal Control have all adopted TNR policies because they work:
- TNR successfully saves taxpayer dollars
- TNR effectively stabilizes and ultimately reduces feral cat populations
- TNR reduces nuisance complaints and addresses neighborhood safety concerns
JeffCoTNR volunteers regularly partner with OpSpot, Open Door Animal Sanctuary, and Carol House Quick Fix to provide low-cost vetting for companion animals and outdoor cats in our community. JeffCoTNR volunteers also work with local rescue groups to find “furr”ever homes for friendly strays. All this is done AT NO COST to taxpayers.
It's time for Jefferson County to adopt a TNR ordinance.
