Ban the sale of single-use plastic water bottles in Barrie, Ontario

Ban the sale of single-use plastic water bottles in Barrie, Ontario

The Issue

Banning or spreading awareness on single use plastic water-bottles could change the lives of all living things. Single-use plastic water-bottles are a leading cause of environmental pollution. Plastic water-bottles are one of the most common items found in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch located halfway between California and Hawaii. Besides all of the environmental issues that come with plastic bottles, they’re a waste of resources, and they cost way too much to transport. It takes 17,789,500 litres of oil to transport the trillions of litres of bottled water that Canadians drink each year! It costs an ungodly amount of oil to produce enough single-use plastic bottles for our use. It takes around 17 millions barrels of oil to even make enough plastic water bottles for Canadians. The worst part about this is that bottled water isn’t any cleaner than tap water. Several medical professionals have recorded that tap water is actually healthier for you than bottled. If you’re still worried about how clean your water is, invest in a water filter, which will result in much cleaner and healthier water than any plastic water-bottle could ever be.
