JCPS Community Against Modified Calendar.

The Issue

As parents fighting for our future generations, we are deeply concerned for our children's education and extra-curricular activities. Our teachers, our coaches, and other educators who are the backbone of our educational system may be at risk. In a shift away from the traditional school year, we fear we may lose these valuable educators. This not only has implications for the quality of education but also disrupts the cherished bond between the student and teacher.

Similarly, our kids' athletic engagement and their participation in various summer and spring break camps will be severely hindered. These camps and sports events not only serve as a great source of physical fitness but also foster teamwork and build character. A modified school year would undeniably rob them of these invaluable life experiences.

Research indicates that traditional school years, with a substantial summer break, provide time for students to rejuvenate, for teachers to prepare for the next school year, and for families to spend valuable time together (NAESP, 2007).

For these reasons and more, we urge to stand in solidarity to uphold the traditional school year schedule. Act now, sign our petition to keep our school year traditional and ensure our children receive the education and experiences they deserve.
