Yesterday the Seattle School Teacher's voted to ratify their contract and they are also turning their attention to the state legislature as the root cause of the problem. Until the state does their Paramount Duty, we can expect to see other strikes and work actions by educators around the state. We hold the Governor and the current legislature responsible for this situation. While the recent legislation was stronger than in the past on education, you have failed to lead and move our funding of education in Washington beyond what is considered CRIMINAL by the Supreme Court. Governor Inslee, we want no more negotiating beyond closed doors for stop gap funding measures, you must call the legislature to an emergency session that will not end until the demands of Mcleary decision are fully met and more funding is provided to the entire state system. This is an outrage in a progressive state that prides itself on technology and economic growth. This unnecessary situation hinders our ability to retain great educators in throughout the state, it hinders our economy because great talent will be reluctant to subject their children to this education system. We have the most regressive tax system in the U.S. that fails to raise revenue for basic needs like education. Something must be done immediately.
