Thank you to everybody so far who has signed this petition and shared it along with the other distributive materials. A special thanks also to the local organizations who have declared solidarity with us and the workers at Java House.
I'm pleased to say that we've gotten a lot of positive feedback from both former and current Java House workers. However, we still have not gotten any form of comment from the Java House owners and the wages have not yet returned to the pre-pandemic minimum.
We understand that tips are an important source of income for the workers at Java House, so rather than declare a boycott we are doing something a little different. Our new "Pour Over Campaign" is a way that members of the community who frequent Java House can support the workers. The idea is very simple, instead of whatever specialty drink you normally get, please instead purchase their cheaper pour over coffee and tip the difference between that and what you would normally spend. This way, Java House workers are getting extra tips to help make up for their terrible wages, and their boss is making less money off of your patronage.
More for the workers, less for the boss.
