Private Investigator Licensure Needs to STAY MANDATORY in Colorado!
The Issue
Licensing requirements are important in regards to community safety, trust in Private Investigators, verification of ability to practice, and Private Investigators reputation, business practices, and professionality.
By allowing average folks to go around, performing the work of an investigator, unlicensed and unregulated - without any minimum requirements - Colorado is set to destroy the industry as a whole, our capacity to work, the community's trust in investigators, and they will leave people vulnerable to predatory individuals who CLAIM to be investigators - yet possess no experience, no license, no surety bond.
We should not be making it EASIER for people in times of crisis to be taken advantage of. Private Investigators need to remain licensed mandatorily, regulated, bonded, and their standards of professionality and practice upheld.
Licenses and regulations protect our reputation, help us act in greater capacity, demonstrate our capabilities by requiring the jurisprudence exam, and act as a safeguard by requiring a surety bond.
Do NOT allow Colorado to tarnish our reputation, and allow a bunch of unlicensed charlatans to take advantage of the people.
Help us ensure that licenses, and regulations, remain MANDATORY!
As of right now, Colorado is set to get rid of licenses by SEPT 1ST!
It is absurd, negligent, disrespectful to the profession, and will open up many doors for abusers, scammers, and crooks to drag our profession through the mud unchecked and unpunished.
We cannot afford this both as people who may need the service of an investigator, and investigators who want to preserve the integrity of the industry.
This affects ALL of US.
Petition Jared Polis to make licensing STAY MANDATORY. The fact that he vetoed it in the first place is completely ludicrous!
