Yesterday, Grandma Lee Yong-soo visited the South Korean National Assembly about a resolution for referring the “comfort women” issue under the UN Convention Against Torture (CAT).
She also asked opposition party leader Lee Jun-seok not to abolish South Korean's Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, which has supported the Korean “comfort women” survivors.
Grandma Lee’s message:
I again called for a victim-centered resolution to the “comfort women” issue under the UN Torture Convention. It is a human rights and women’s rights issue. We must work together before it’s too late. Thank you so much, party leaders Yoon Ho-jung, Kim Ki-hyun, Lee Jun-seok and representatives Lee Su-jin, Yang Geum-ja, Ha Tae-kyung, and Yang Gi-dae.
Every lawmaker from both parties with whom I met promised to work towards passing a resolution as soon as possible. Please unite to pass the resolution for referring the “comfort women” issue under the UN Torture Convention right away.
Thank you.
