Please support Save Sudbury Water Meadows too

This map shows the main east-west route between South Suffolk and North Essex passes through Sudbury. It causes excess congestion. Both the Save Sudbury Water Meadows petition, https://goo.gl/KWLKXY, and this one aim to solve that problem.. In case you are confused here is a summary of the three options for Sudbury on offer: 1. BYPASS The aim is to reduce congestion and pollution in the town. The price is irreparable damage to the heritage environment and water meadows between Sudbury and Rodbridge plus proposed development at Middleton. A western bypass will not reduce the volume of east-west through traffic in the town. Recommendation: vote for a western bypass if you are prepared to pay the environmental price in return for a "less than expected" reduction in traffic in the town (according to the Business Case itself): https://goo.gl/BJC4BF 2. NO BYPASS The aim is to preserve the water meadows and prevent creeping development on the other side of Valley Walk. It proposes measures to reduce the number of HGVs passing through the town. Recommendation: vote to preserve the water meadows https://goo.gl/KWLKXY AND vote for taking HGVs out of the town https://goo.gl/PUaTVp (option 3, below) 3. BETTER ROADS, NO BYPASS The aim is to remove all HGVs from the town and as much east-west through traffic as possible. Since we started this petition the best solution has emerged. It is to reroute the A131 strategic road to link to the A1071 at its junction with the A134 south of Newton Green. Recommendation: vote to remove HGVs and east-west through traffic from the town https://goo.gl/PUaTVp AND vote to preserve the water meadows https://goo.gl/KWLKXY Taken together options 2 and 3 are a vote for Sudbury, Babergh, Suffolk, Braintree and Essex councils to reconsider their strategy for the benefit of the whole community.
