The best route to cut congestion?
Sudbury Vision

This map shows a proposed east west route to divert the A131 lorry route away from Sudbury to the A1071 junction with the A134 south of Newton Green. The mauve link to this new road from the A134 roundabout is an optional extra. It looks logical on the map but is there room for it on the ground?
These scheme takes 100% of the HGVs out of Sudbury and a lot of east west traffic too. It also provides eastern and western routes for Great Cornard traffic.
The mauve road offers a way round Sudbury for traffic from Waldingfield and the new development at Chilton.
A condition for building these roads must be no creeping development where it crosses the area of outstanding natural beauty in green on the map.
Of course the scheme goes nowhere near the Sudbury water meadows. It would allow the town to sort out its traffic problems and improve its services.
if HMG were to stump up the money, would you commend this route to your friends who want a bypass?
