Is the problem Sudbury or Suffolk's lorry network?

The map shows Suffolk's lorry network as it is today. Traffic between the East and Essex has to go over Ballingdon Bridge. Thank you all for your support. Please "tell a friend" so we can reach 1,000 and argue for the best solution for everyone. Shirley Graham asks, "Where are these lorries coming from?" Fortunately the answer is the Department for Transport traffic counts. These show the HGVs crossing Ballingdon Bridge are pretty much an even split between East-West and North-South. That means the Business Case may have over estimated the volume of traffic on the new road by as much as double. The number of HGVs in and out of Sudbury on Melford Road and Newton Road are practically the same at just over 300* vehicles per day each. Most of the artics appear to be through traffic.Iin round figures the combined total of 200* vehicles per day on these two roads is comparable with the 180* vehicles crossing Ballingdon Bridge. It's a safe bet that none of this through traffic wants to be in Sudbury. This would suggest the solution is to re-jig the lorry network not Sudbury. Could that be win-win for everyone? * Figures are from the latest counts. Estimates tend to be high.
