Jacksonville State University along with many other state funded universities have a n academic building named after Former Alabama Governor David Bibb Graves. However, it has now become common knowledge that Graves was the Grand Cyclops of the Montgomery Klavern of the Ku Klux Klan. In an effort to enact real change for racial injustice, this petition will serve to increase awareness and stop the honorarium of racist individuals. In place of the name Bibb Graves, the building would potentially be named after Mrs. Barbara Curry- Storey (formerly Mrs. Barbara Crook-Curry, a 1969 graduate and the first black student to be enrolled at JSU.

A statement from JSU: "The administration is committed not only to making the JSU campus more inclusive, but also ensuring that we fulfill our role as a university in broadening understanding and appreciation across the university community."

Please help "The Friendliest Campus in the South" make positive changes on our campus!
