Clearly  we all understood this!!!! Google translate didn't recognize this word either to elucidate us. However, I found it in my Maori dictionary, (now an indispensable resource for the understanding of  rapidly changing Aotearorian English)

It means The winter Term!

Here we find yet another incorporation of Maori language untranslated and unidentified  into English. Unless English is identified and an official language,its demise as an internationally understood language in NZ is inevitable
