JAA Lincoln High School Relocation to Roseville: A Decision That Fails Families
JAA Lincoln High School Relocation to Roseville: A Decision That Fails Families
The Issue
Dear Members of the Board,
We, the undersigned families of JAA – Lincoln, write to formally and unequivocally state that the decision to relocate all high school students to the Roseville campus beginning next academic year is unacceptable.
Families chose JAA in Lincoln based on the stability, accessibility, and educational structure that were clearly presented to us at the time of enrollment. Many families made long‑term commitments—including relocating their homes—based on the expectation that secondary education would remain on the Lincoln campus. These decisions were made in good faith and with the understanding that this structure would not be abruptly dismantled.
The proposed move creates serious and unreasonable burdens for families, particularly those with students across multiple grade levels. Requiring families to manage two separate daily drop‑offs and pickups at different campuses is not feasible for working parents and eliminates the independence many students currently have by walking to and from school. This change fundamentally disrupts family life and student stability.
This petition is not submitted as a suggestion, a request for clarification, or an invitation for unilateral confirmation of a board decision. It is a clear statement from families that this decision cannot move forward as proposed and that viable options must be considered and voted on by parents and families. This is not a decision that belongs solely to the Board.
A reasonable and respectful path forward—should the school intend to transition the high school to Roseville long‑term—is as follows:
Scholars currently in secondary school complete their high school education in Lincoln.
This petition is our letter to you all that this decision is unacceptable.
We urge the Board to pause and seriously consider:
The academic and emotional impact this disruption will have on students
The strain it places on working families
The likelihood that families will leave JAA entirely, permanently damaging enrollment and trust
This petition serves as our formal notice to the Board that this decision is unacceptable. Families deserve transparency, respect, and a seat at the table when decisions of this magnitude are made. Our children deserve the educational environment we were promised in Lincoln.
Sincerely,
Concerned JAA Families
