Izzy Is Back Home - But the Safety Concerns Are Not Over

I am grateful to share that Izzy has made it safely back home from Ohio and is doing well. Her safe return, however, does not erase what happened while she was away. Izzy was exposed to a frightening incident in which threats were made against the lives of those in the home - including her own. She was later required to speak with Ohio Child Protective Services about what she had witnessed. A court hearing was scheduled in Ohio to address the protections requested for the children in the household following her mother’s husband’s actions. Her mother did not appear for that hearing. Since then, Izzy’s mother has returned to her husband - the same individual whose conduct prompted the request for protection. Under the current parenting schedule, Izzy is scheduled to return to Ohio for Christmas break. This means the safety concerns that began this mission are not merely in the past. Serious questions remain about what protections will be in place to prevent Izzy from being exposed to the same individual or another dangerous situation. The fact that Izzy returned home safely does not mean that the system protected her. She should never have been placed in that environment or required to carry the emotional burden that followed. This is why Izzy’s Law FL must continue. Our mission is bigger than one family. We are working toward a Florida where credible domestic violence concerns trigger meaningful risk assessments and timely protections before a child is placed in danger - not after something has already happened. Please continue signing and sharing this petition. Every signature helps show Florida lawmakers that child safety must be the first priority in custody and visitation decisions. Izzy is home, but she is scheduled to return to Ohio for Christmas. Our work is not finished. Support the mission: https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-izzys-law-fl-for-safer-custody-exchanges
