IVF stands for in vitro fertilization. IVF is a series of procedures used to help create a baby due to infertility problems.

Sometimes the only hope for someone to have a baby is through IVF after they have exhausted all other options.

I am 24 years old and have been struggling with infertility and I'm supposed to go through IVF. In Ontario, the first cycle of IVF is covered but the medication is never covered. The medication, transportation and time off work can cost more than $5000. After the first cycle of IVF, none of it is covered. You're looking at spending around $15,000 or more.

I believe that the Canadian government should be funding the whole IVF process including the medication. 1 in 6 couples in Canada experience infertility.

Many people in Canada can't afford to pay for IVF. I personally have had a long health journey. At age 21 I had brain surgery for 3 aneurysms which left me unable to work for a long time and with other symptoms. This threw me back a lot financially, then at age 23 I was diagnosed with endometriosis and had to undergo a laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, and a tubal dye test. This again threw me back financially. Now I am in the process of trying to undergo IVF. While all of this threw me back financially it also has an emotional toll as I've had to go through a lot of health issues in the past 3 years.

I am an example of why people need funding for IVF. It's not affordable for a lot of people. Please sign this petition so we can make a change and have the medication side of IVF also covered.
