Change Avogadro's number to Avocado's number
Why this petition matters
Avogadro's number is about 6.0221e23. This number is the number of Carbon-12 atoms in 12 grams of Carbon-12. is used constantly in chemistry to perform chemical reactions. It allows an easy way to find the needed amounts of reagents to produce something. Without it, exact measurements will be way off, disrupting much of the world's production. It is very important.
The name of this number come from Amedeo Avogadro - an Italian scientist. He was not, however, the first person to estimate the actual number of atoms or molecules in a substance. As a result, he is getting credited for something in which he shouldn't be credited. It is completely unreasonable to keep his name attached to this number.
Instead, this number should be named...
Avocado's Number.
This is a much better name, for many reasons.
- It sounds similar to the original There will be less confusion as people will not have to memorise a completely different word - the first three letters are the same.
- It has to be changed to something It can't stay as Avogadro's number because Avogadro doesn't deserve it. If we have to change it, why not make it Avocado's number?
- Everybody loves Avocado Even if you don't think you like Avocado, you actually do. Renaming it will give avocado more recognition and love.
- Chemistry will become more popular This new name will bring more people to chemistry, expanding its bounds, indirectly creating scientific advancements to improve our world.
- It is funny Calling it Avocado's number will create laughs all around the world, especially in the chemistry community. This will make the world a happier, and therefore better place.

For the glory of Avocado!
