According to a recent report by Advocacy Centre for Tenants Ontario (ACTO), one in five households spend more than half their income on rent, making them vulnerable to eviction and homelessness. Let us remember that behind every statistic is a family, a story, and a community worth preserving. We can build a future where everyone has access to safe, affordable, and stable housing – a future where our homes are truly our own ♥️

The current housing market is dominated by profit-driven entities and fundamentally flawed. Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) like IRENT(CLV Group) are not just faceless entities on a balance sheet; they are actively reshaping our communities, often at the expense of long-term residents and vulnerable individuals.

It's important to highlight that due to the lack of action from the Landlord.Tenant.Board(LTB) it has become increasingly more apparent how much the odds are against people who need it the most. The weak tenant protections and enforcement have emboldened some landlords to cut corners, prioritizing profits over tenant well-being.Negligent landlords who ignore critical issues like mine are proving to get away with substandard conditions and unfair practices, only paving the road for more just like them.

This system favours property owners who evidently bring in the most profits. Making it nearly impossible for renters to assert their rights. Tenants often fear eviction or retaliation if they speak up about problems. I'm a perfect example of this. It's not just about the inconvenience or the stress. It's especially tough for vulnerable people - low-income families, the elderly, immigrants, and students - who lack resources or financial means to fight back.

We must demand accountability from those who have profited from our suffering and fight for a future, we are in dire need a paradigm shift where housing is a fundamental human right not a luxury reserved for the privileged few.

As we stand at the midst of this crisis, the relentless pursuit of wealth and power has created a housing crisis of epic proportions. It is imperative that we take a stand against the corporate greed that has brought us to this point.
Where the most vulnerable members of society are forced to bear the brunt of the consequences.

The story of Hamilton, ON resident facing eviction is not an isolated incident. This is not unique to my story alone, as many individuals have voiced similar grievances personally, while I am set up in a tent daily outfront of the property I reside. This visibility is in demonstration, to spark conversations, encourage positive change for a better future and to show the profound impact that housing instability has on mental health. In hopes to empower communities to stand up against exploitation and injustice. The impact of housing instability on mental health is profound. It can lead to feelings of shame, guilt, and inadequacy, as well as exacerbate pre-existing conditions such as depression and anxiety. The lack of stable housing can also contribute to a sense of isolation and disconnection from support networks or resources. It's a stark reminder of the human cost behind corporate greed and the exploitation of housing markets.

We’ve been battling a broken system that wears people down until they give up. It shouldn't be this difficult for people to keep a roof over their head.We must address the systemic shortcomings within & demand accountability!
