It's Simple Math: Dollar for Dollar

It's Simple Math: Dollar for Dollar
The Issue
Reflecting on the emails, messages, texts, and calls I get about housing opportunities on a daily is Heartbreaking. We have a housing crisis that's not being talked about as much. I kind of understand why. They didn't have enough information about evictions to figure out a way to curve them. So, letting it work itself out is the solution they chose.
This eviction crisis is hurting a lot of people, working people, owners, middle-class renters, burdening the shelter systems, reducing affordable housing, etc. I can go on and on about the people being affected by this housing crisis.
Now we have the migrants, refugees, and immigrants (both legal and illegal) who have the same needs as the American people. Everyone wants to be safe and have a stable place for their family. Everyone should have that opportunity. Americans are welcoming, we love people. The issue here is not the trio of immigrants. The problem is how America is handling a situation where their own people need the same resources as others.
I get it, this is another situation where they don't know the industry. The last time this happened with Cuba, the world was completely different. I truly understand the dilemma, but are you really going to stop helping your own and spend billions of dollars giving out the same resources Americans need to others Are you really going to do this in our face, in our neighborhoods?
That's not going to work. Everyone, this is not about the people getting the resources. It's about the lawmakers giving out the resources. I say there is enough money and resources for everyone to be successful in their goals towards stability. It's really simple math.
- IF you open a shelter in a neighborhood for "others", open one for Americans.
- IF you give away 20 million to "others", give the same 20 million to Americans.
- IF you pay rent for "others", pay rent for Americans.
It's really simple math. Whatever you do for others you should be being for Americans.
Honestly, that doesn't even look right, The United States is taking care of others before their own people.
While it is essential that we support immigrants in need, it is equally important that we do not neglect our American homeless population. They too are citizens of this country and deserve equal care and attention.
According to a 2020 report by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), over half a million people experience homelessness on any given night in America. After the Pandemic this number is easily doubled. With such staggering numbers at home, it's crucial that domestic aid does not fall short compared to what's provided for immigrant assistance.
We urge you all - citizens who believe in justice and equality - to join us in calling on our government officials to mandate equal funding for American homeless individuals as they do for immigrants seeking shelter within our borders.
By signing this petition you are advocating for fair treatment of all individuals experiencing homelessness regardless of their origin or immigration status; because everyone deserves a chance at life with dignity. Please sign this petition today!
