INVITATION: please join us November 1st!

ORIGINAL PETITION: We, the undersigned, urge Santa Cruz County Supervisors to support an action to preserve and protect the De La Ossa Family Cemetery and Chapel in Lochiel AZ. This property, which has been in the De La Ossa family since 1880, and has been put in jeopardy by greed of the present land owner and former County Treasurer, Liz Gutfahr. To try to protect this invaluable piece of heritage, descendants of the original homesteaders Antonio and Carolina De La Ossa have established the nonprofit De La Ossa Family Cemetery Foundation. We also call on the public at large to help us strengthen our request to officials by signing this petition which demonstrates widespread support for retention of our beloved and sacred cemetery and chapel that is currently threatened to be lost. Along with schools and fire departments, we too are victims and need your support. More than 50 family members including veterans of the United States are buried here. This place is part of Santa Cruz County’s history and deserves to be safe. Through no fault of our own we stand at a crisis of losing our important piece of history, help us reverse a wrong and make a right by showing support for this request!
