"The Australian" has just reported that the Qld Law Reform Commission has indicated it needs more time to "draft" Voluntary Assisted Dying Legislation in Qld and the now anticipated date before it will reach Qld Parliament for debate is May 2021.

As an advocate, and as someone with a ticking time bomb over my head, I am bitterly disappointed, as I am sure will many others.  Had the Qld Premier not dragged her heels during her previous political term, stating VAD was not a priority for her government, Queenslanders could possibly have had other end of life options by now.  So, realistically, the implementation of any legislation, if it passes, and the ability to actually use it, will most likely be 2023 ... 

As 2020 draws to a close, we commit to our advocacy in 2021 on behalf of all those living with an incurable disease and all those who share real life experiences of losing a loved one through a bad death.
