My endometriosis journey has been a very long an traumatic battle to access prompt and accurate treatment in Ireland.

Our current medical system is so outdated it’s forcing women to travel outside of Ireland to get treatment and for those of us that are in medical debt or cannot leave Ireland for correct care we are forced to accept dangerously outdated medical treatment in Ireland.

We are faced daily with Medics claiming they know enough about Endometriosis when in actual fact this is incredibly damaging to patients.

There is a book in me about my entire journey from childhood symptoms to eventually receiving a stage 4 diagnosis in 2005 at the age of 26 and experiencing multiple traumatic experiences trying to access treatment in Ireland and being failed consistently that it has quite literally destroyed my life plans and while I navigate adapting to life as it is and managing my mental health while I live with the reality of my physical health it has given me the strength to work on a Campaign to highlight the magnitude of how seriously we need a National Endometriosis Awareness Campaign in Ireland and a medical framework that works for our community.

I have numerous tales to tell of my life living with Endometriosis in Ireland & it’s scary the reality of what our community are experiencing.

With the upcoming general election please think long and hard about who you will be voting for!

I am so traumatized by my lived experiences that I no longer trust going to a&e when I am having a symptom flare because I no longer trust I will be getting correct care so I have learned to self care when my pain is off the charts or I am too fatigued to leave the bed. 

How is that acceptable in Ireland in 2024
