I am a firefighter, closely acquainted with the challenges we face in our line of work. I closely understand the plight of our Palestinian counterparts who are being denied access to crucial resources to fulfill their duties. Scottish firefighters have generously donated a fully equipped firetruck to their colleagues in Nablus, the West Bank. Further emphasizing the dire need, this fire appliance is packed with life-saving medical supplies and firefighting gear.

However, this invaluable aid is, disappointingly, held back at the Israeli port of Ashdod since 21 July 2024! This, despite the fact that all requisite paperwork is in order. This unnecessary delay is keeping essential help from reaching those that require it the most. The West Bank encounters an alarmingly high number of fire-related incidents ranging from wildfires to domestic fires, which further stresses the urgency of this issue.

We call on the Israeli authorities to allow this critical emergency response vehicle to pass. We seek their support in this life-saving and selfless mission to ensure safety and survival.
