We would like the Department of Education, Sport and Culture to ensure that our Manx High Schools and UCM appeal the inaccurate grading, in all subjects, of the Manx students grades following the cancellation of exams due to the COVID-19.

The right to appeal is just, although with many, if not all exam boards, currently appealing grading needs to be done by the school/college, which effectively takes away a students choice. Unlike A-Levels and alike, IGCSE's are not under the protection of Ofqual, and whilst it is recognised that "bumping-up" all grades would be an injustice too, being that potential employers and alike could then look unfavourably at a person's results, it is only right that students grades are looked at again across the board to ensure they receive grading that is a true representation of their ability; taking on-board properly, information from those teachers who know them and their capabilities the best. Students deserve human assessment based on truly individual information, not results based on years gone by, and algorithms. We would like to see teachers from all schools showing a unified response in support.
