Is your apple or pear worth the life of a Black Cockatoo?

Is your apple or pear worth the life of a Black Cockatoo?
The issue
Can you imagine Western Australia without the call of the Forest Redtail, and Carnaby and Baudin Whitetail Black Cockatoos?
We won't have to imagine soon, as this is fast becoming a reality, with all three species listed as endangered.
The main cause is habitat loss due to mining, timber, farming, and property development.
Land clearing and deforestation has resulted in Black Cockatoos resorting to alternative food sources to supplement their fragmented and declining traditional food sources.
This has put Black Cockatoos in direct conflict with apple and pear orchardists; particularly those who do not net their trees. Orchardists have shot, and continue to illegally shoot, protected Black Cockatoos.
We can help stop this from happening.
We need to send a clear message to the major supermarket chains and farmers markets, that we want our apples and pears to be Black Cockatoo friendly.
We want a clear statement of intent from the major supermarkets and farmers markets, that they will only purchase fruit from orchardists who net their trees.
