

2 horses, ridden by the same jockey at a race meeting at Kilbeggan racecourse on 24 April 2026 have been confirmed dead.
Horse Racing Ireland has identified the now "deceased" horses as:
• 5-year-old French horse Lamikal D’airy who was pulled up in a race. The horse can be seen in this HRI race footage https://youtu.be/ckEEbGeSc5I?t=58 (in the background at top of screen)
• 4-year-old McLoughlin who was “struggling when bad mistake” before being pulled up in the following race
Both horses were carrying rider Conor Stone-Walsh.
Other horses carrying Conor Stone-Walsh in their final races and later confirmed dead:
8-year-old Backtonormal suffered a fall in the “Paddy Power Chase” at Leopardstown racecourse on 27 December 2025.
10-year-old The Dasher Conway who suffered a heavy fall and was fatally injured in a race at Gowran Park racecourse on 8 November 2025.
10-year-old Gondor who was “pulled up approaching last” in a race at Killarney racecourse on 12 May 2025.
5-year-old Stilgar who finished 13th at Leopardstown racecourse on 2 March 2025.
6-year-old Big Chou who suffered a fall in a race at Leopardstown racecourse on 29 December 2024.
5-year-old Marcus Furius who suffered a fall in the “Adare Manor Opportunity Maiden Hurdle” race at Limerick racecourse on 19 November 2024.
4-year-old British horse Capellina who finished sixth in a race at Down Royal racecourse on 2 November 2024.
8-year-old Wee Jerry who was lame after the “Glenallen Homes Handicap Chase” race at Downpatrick racecourse on 26 August 2024.
5-year-old Stay Local who weakened and finished 18th in a race at Navan Racecourse on 4 October 2023.

Don’t bet on horse racing or attend horse racing events.
Since 2001, the Irish Government has granted €1.54 Billion of public funds to horse racing. Contact the Taoiseach and Tanaiste and demand an end to state funding to this gambling activity which causes so much suffering and death. Tell them to redirect the funds to the many deserving charities, health/homeless/environmental groups, sports clubs, animal rescue centres, etc crying out for funding.
