

Though Ireland's greyhound industry is incensed about a school textbook including a piece critical of the "sport", it's not the first time the issue has been up for discussion in Irish schools.
In 1994 pupils were also encouraged to discuss aspects of the greyhound industry following a shocking case involving the blooding of greyhounds on live rabbits at a leading Irish track.
The trainers had been caught redhanded by an undercover reporter and footage appeared in a Channel Four TV programme.
There were protests in the days that followed and a picture (above) from one of these got pride of place in a secondary school civics textbook. It shows a woman with a placard whose slogan captures the horror of what greyhound trainers do to animals.
