Iran's territorial integrity should not be utilized as a leverage for economic diplomacy.

The Canadian Prime Minister, Honorable Mark Carney,
Your joint statement with the United Arab Emirates regarding the Persian Gulf islands of Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, and Lesser Tunb is highly perceived as a historically tinted overreach into Iranian sovereignty. By endorsing the UAE’s claims and characterizing Iran's longstanding presence as an "occupation," your administration disregards centuries of documented geographical, historical, and legal realities. These islands are firmly under Iranian administration prior to the very establishment of the UAE federation in December 1971. The wrongful acts of the hostile illegitimate Regime in Iran shouldn't be an opportunity for leveraging the country’s territorial integrity as a bargaining chip for economic diplomacy and partnerships abroad. Such a stance undermines international law and constitutes unsensable external interference. Iran's fundamental borders and ancient territorial domain belong irrevocably to the Iranian nation and cannot be negotiated away during the country's most vulnerable era.
Many Iranians choose Canada as their second home because of its worldwide reputation in Human Rights and Equity. As a proud Iranian-Canadian, Citizens like us would love to see Canada's commitment to nurturing Human Rights in Iran instead.
Live long Canada, Live long Iran.
