Investigation & Removal of K. B.

Investigation & Removal of K. B.
The Issue
An ESA is a right everyone deserves under the correct circumstances and reasoning, and the process after certification to allow them into campus housing should be quick and easy.
However, many individuals are not able to get proper permission for their ESA’s to be in campus housing, due to the number of fakers who bring their pets onto campus without ESA certification.
One of these people is K. B., Floor 2, who has not received any consequence for allowing an untrained dog onto campus grounds with no ESA certification and continuously smokes weed in the residence area.
This is not an attack on her, but a desire for reformation. Continue on with this in mind.
Many residents on Floor 2 have complained about the floor smelling like weed, and on a SCAD Day (Fall Quarter 2023), a visitor noted the heavy scent of it in the hallway of the Floor 2 Pods.
Anonymous hints were given that Kamille was the one who was causing the scent, and the only care given to the situation was a quick glance around the room. This is NOT acceptable in any way for such an allegation by MULTIPLE students.
Weed is strictly prohibited on campus grounds, especially in residence halls. The fact the situation wasn’t cared for in the slightest is appalling, and any allegation should be taken with the idea that it could be true.
But that isn’t the end of the story. A untrained puppy is in the dorms, often outside the residence hall without a leash. Many have complained of a slight odor of urine in the halls, and an anonymous user (presumably a roommate) on the social app YikYak has stated that the dog uses the bathroom anywhere in the dorm.
Aside from the lack of training- the dog is NOT ESA-certified. Roommates claim the puppy was simply brought in one day. Due to its young age, it requires much attention and training to become a proper ESA and safe animal to have around others.
This was not even considered when bringing the dog home, nor was the consequence of it being discovered as simply a “pet.”
The biggest issue many users have is that the dog is acting as an ESA, which is severely disrespectful to those who have not yet been able to register their’s due to fakers. One Yikyak user mentions that their cat is their mental health support that they “desperately needed” at times. However, it was turned down by SCAD Accommodations with the added note that they needed more proof DUE TO PEOPLE FAKING.
The amount of behavior that has been allowed by the RA and RD of this floor is disgusting. There was no care given in her investigation for weed, as looking around the room will NOT account for anything hidden in dressers and drawers. No one is going to have their drugs out in the open.
Secondly, the dog has been complained about for howling by other residents, and has been reported by members of the floor + roommates that it is not ESA certified.
What was done about those allegations? Nothing.
No investigation. No time given to check certifications. It was blown off by stating they “needed more people to complain first”. Stop undermining the situation, and understand the SEVERITY of the problem you are allowing.
This petition is for the right consequences to be given. We are demanding change and demanding that problems are handled better in Forty. Due to the incompetence of the RD, we WILL be sending this to the Dean once we hit 30 signatures or more.
Do better for those who live here. We depend on you, and we depend on our issues to be resolved.
