Investigate the NUML Explosion: Protect Students’ Lives

Investigate the NUML Explosion: Protect Students’ Lives
The Issue
I am a student at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML), Islamabad, and the recent explosion on campus has deeply shaken the entire student community. Despite high semester fees, the university appears to lack adequate modern fire and safety systems.
While the administration has described the incident as a gas leak, the extent of the explosion and reports from students raise serious questions about what really happened. It seems unusual that such a strong explosion could occur during evening classes, with many students and faculty present, without anyone noticing a gas smell beforehand. Videos and eyewitness accounts suggest the situation was far more severe than a typical gas leak, highlighting the urgent need for a transparent and impartial investigation to clarify the facts.
We therefore demand the formation of an independent, transparent, and impartial inquiry committee, including student representatives and safety experts, to investigate the incident and make its findings public.
We also demand immediate and visible improvements in campus security and fire safety systems, including inspections, upgraded equipment, and clear emergency response procedures.
Students deserve a safe and protected learning environment.
Please sign to support transparency, accountability, and student safety at NUML.
