Investigate the Conduct of Senior Officers at Merthyr Council

The Issue

This is a personal plea, driven by a distressing encounter with the unjust actions of the senior officers at Merthyr Council. My son, a dedicated Senior HR Officer, was unfairly dismissed in January 2017 after serving the council for 14 years. Five Headteachers formed a Cabal demanding his dismissal. This is the prime example, among other incidences, of the disgraceful tactics the council has employed. 

Senior officers have consistently acted contrary to the council's constitution. They also impermissibly protected their failures in ensuring that Child Safeguarding within Welsh regulations is met. With my son's unfair dismissal as one case among many, there is ample evidence demonstrating a lack of accountability for these actions.

As part of this longstanding issue, the Council’s Monitoring Officer attempted to dismiss my son back in July 2012. He was suspended for 18 months for “Gross Misconduct” under flawed investigations. During this period, instead of justice, we faced badly managed procedures that led the CEO eventually writing an apology letter confirming the failure of the investigators. My son was reinstated in January 2014, only to be dismissed three years later.

These instances underline the need for an independent inquiry into the actions of Merthyr Council's senior members. Stand with me for truth, justice, and fairness in the workplace. This petition calls on the relevant governing bodies to investigate these claims and bring those responsible to account.
