This is not only a public call for justice, but a deeply personal plea. Kei’mani Latigue, other innocent children and my own niece, have fallen victim not only to circumstances beyond their control but also to negligence from those who should have protected them - Lucas County Children Services. Their cases have been neglected, causing them unnecessary suffering and harm, even death.

The role of children's services is to act in the best interests of the children in their care, to ensure their safety and well-being. When they fail in this duty - as they have in Kei’Mani and my niece's case - it is more than just an unfortunate oversight; it's Gross Negligence. The consequences of such negligence can be long-lasting and deeply damaging.

There is a pressing need for our community and our officials to step in, to investigate the practices of Lucas County Children Services. This is not to condemn all the good work done by social workers and caregivers daily, but to shine a light on the instances where they fall short, where negligence occurs, and to make sure that all children in their care receive the protection, support, and service they are guaranteed and deserve.
