INVESTIGATE IRAN’S EXECUTIONS AT THE HAGUE

INVESTIGATE IRAN’S EXECUTIONS AT THE HAGUE
The Issue
Iran carries out more executions per capita than any other country on Earth. According to human rights reports, at least 1,639 people were executed in 2025 alone — an average of four human beings every single day. Since January 2026, more than 600 additional executions have reportedly taken place across Iran. Many of those executed were young protesters, political prisoners, and ordinary citizens accused without fair trials, transparency, or proper legal defense. Some were only 18 or 19 years old. Families are often denied answers, denied justice, and threatened into silence. Public statements attributed to senior judicial officials, including calls to accelerate execution procedures, have intensified fears among Iranians that executions are being used as a tool of repression and intimidation against people demanding freedom and basic human rights. While the world looks away, prison cells continue to fill, internet blackouts continue to silence families, and execution sentences continue to rise. We call on the international community, human rights organizations, European governments, and international legal institutions — including The Hague — to urgently investigate officials responsible for these executions and systematic human rights violations. We also urge European countries to formally designate the IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) as a terrorist organization and increase international pressure on those responsible for Iran’s execution system. Silence enables more executions. Urgent action is needed now.
