The Issue

Growing up in Grants, New Mexico, I've watched my community change dramatically. Although I’ve moved away to pursue opportunities that align with my personal goals and our family’s well being, Grants still holds a significant place in my heart. I know firsthand the challenges and potential within this town… potential that's being stifled by fear and corruption in the Grants Cibola County Schools (GCCS).

Friends, family members, and beloved educators still inhabit this area, and their cries cannot be ignored. The system is failing them in ways that are appalling and questionably legal. Dedicated teachers, passionate about empowering our youth, are being pushed out or forced to conform to a toxic "in crowd." This insider group seems to have a stranglehold on promotions and pay, and job opportunities, leaving true educators in the dust. This isn’t gossip, it’s an alarming reality being covered up and swept under the rug for years.

Over recent days, I have been bombarded with messages from students, staff, and families highlighting a disturbing pattern of favoritism, unjust dismissals, and other questionable practices. It’s destroying families, ruining careers, and most importantly, harming the children who deserve integrity and fair opportunities in their education. This malpractice is not normal, and we should not stand idly by while it destroys our schools and community spirit.

In a town where I learned so much about life, it’s heartbreaking to see its very foundation become a breeding ground for inequality and manipulation. Something must be done to investigate these claims of corruption, examine the financial decisions made by the administration, and scrutinize hiring practices that seem to be influenced by familial ties and favoritism.

We cannot allow this situation to persist. We need immediate action, an investigation into GCCS to restore fairness and trust. I call upon everyone in Grants, New Mexico and beyond who care about justice and quality education to demand transparency and accountability. Stand with us in fighting for change. Please sign this petition to initiate a thorough investigation and help clean up our school system of corruption.
