Investigate deaths and mistreatment at HMP Lowdham Grange

Investigate deaths and mistreatment at HMP Lowdham Grange
The Issue
My son’s father Klayton Smith was not only loved as a daddy but a loving son, brother, and uncle. His life was cut tragically short within the walls of HMP Lowdham Grange. He was not just another faceless prisoner; he was a person with a family who loved him dearly. Sadly, his story is not unique. Since June 2025, there have been six deaths within this prison facility. These tragic incidents have not been followed by appropriate investigations, raising serious concerns about the conditions and treatment of those incarcerated there.
Reports from within HMP Lowdham Grange paint a grim picture of bullying, mistreatment by guards, and a lack of essential support for inmates. It's known as an unsafe facility; yet instead of ensuring transparency and accountability, it seems efforts are being made to sweep these issues under the carpet. Even the local media has been misled, with officials asserting there are investigations when none have genuinely occurred, evidenced by no proper post-mortem examinations being conducted and affected cells left unexamined.
This culture of silence and neglect must end. Every human within that facility deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, and families deserve answers and justice for their lost loved ones. It is vital for the safety of current and future prisoners that we shine a light on these conditions and demand accountability from those in charge.
We call upon independent investigative bodies and the Minister for Justice to urgently conduct comprehensive investigations into these deaths and the reported misconduct at HMP Lowdham Grange. The lives of prisoners depend on swift, decisive action.
Please stand with us to demand transparency, justice, and improved safety at HMP Lowdham Grange. Sign this petition to call for immediate action and accountability.
