There was an Open Letter (Link) posted by a 4th Year Engineering Student, claiming

"With the current uproar of Scott Yenor, I want to mention that 1) signing a petition to further investigate and 2) emailing Marlene Tromp (or anyone else at Boise State) about how he should be fired will not create sustainable change."

First, signing this petition DOES MATTER. We see it matter. We see it posted all over social media, we see it retweeted. We see it referenced in news articles. We see the sheer number of voices who do not agree. We see the greater the signatures, the more the news coverage. We know the greater the signatures, the more change.org assists us in the endeavor. We know petitions work because change.org works. If all you do is sign this petition, it is doing something. Petitions do not exist to simply be signed. They're a call to action. A call to amplification. They are a start. Sending emails to whomever you can DOES MATTER. Do you think Marlene Tromp wants 500 emails in her email box daily about Scott Yenor? YES, I DO.

The author goes on to state "Sustainable change starts when you start taking action to address root causes.

With all this said, I want to express extra appreciation, especially as a woman in engineering, for all the staff and faculty at Boise State and within the community who immediately spoke up and are trying to make a change.

Don’t let this energy die. We have a long way to go before we make sustainable change."

Here is where we are in full agreeance with the author. What we are taking on is more difficult than merely convincing a few people in power.

We are taking on a situation that needs immediate and sustainable solutions - if we do not press forward if we do not create sustainable change, realize this gives any tenured professor "the go" to create a hostile environment for whomever they want to marginalize or take rights away from.

Scott Yenor can have his views and opinions what he cannot do is be misogynistic about them. If Scott Yenor was fair and balanced in his gender analysis then there would be no issue. If Scott Yenor did not insult and demean and say rude, hateful things about women then we wouldn't be here. If Scott Yenors words did not leave us in disgust -- if we were capable of believing for a moment that his grading and evaluations of female students/colleagues could be fair, that he was capable of separating from his personal beliefs and keeping his misogynic comments to his own self... so that he can at least provide an illusion that his beliefs do not cross over into his job responsibilities... then we wouldn't have made this petition.

BSU will lose talent. There is no question. BSU will lose respect, it will lose value. IF Idaho does not realize the weight of their decision or indecision to take action on the matter, not only for their own University and own State but for other States and other Universities, then...

There is no "then". We all must help ensure sustainable change. We all must do as much as we can, every tweet, every signature, every email, every letter, every VOTE (as the open letter points out), all of the pressure on our the legislature to at least DO SOMETHING.

This Petition doesn't end until ACTION occurs. Now, an Idaho House Member called to re-examine its rules on gender discrimination and tenure.

As the open states, NOW is the time to send the legislature a push to action... now is the time to send them our support and demand they do so. We must ensure it happens.

Howard has copied and pasted 70 of Idaho's legislatures' emails. We are going to provide them to everyone with a helpful script in the next update.

P.S. WOMEN AND MINORITIES HAVE THE RIGHT TO A FAIR, DISCRIMINATION-FREE, INTIMIDATION-FREE ENVIRONMENT TO LEARN IN BY THOSE WHO SUPPORT THEIR EDUCATIONAL AND CAREER GOALS. Not those who wish to take them away. I wouldn't pay for that sh@T - demand a reimbursement if you took his class!
