Introduce Men's Rights Commission and No-Fault Divorce in India #mentoo

The Issue

I am Bhavanishankar Ravindra, a national award winner as a role model with disabilities in 2017. I suffer from cerebral palsy, using a walking stick to navigate my world. Yet, despite my disability, I have faced a harrowing ordeal. From 2015, my ex-wife exploited me financially, referring to me as a walking ATM. Even when I requested her help in my business in 2021 having already parted with an approximate of 60 lakhs, she obliterated my savings, filed for divorce in 2022, and disappeared.

My tale is not unique. India, in fact, has many such untold stories. To prevent further exploitation and to ensure that justice is served, change is imperative. We need to demand the introduction of a Men's Rights Commission in India, which will uphold the rights of men who are at the receiving end of marital discord. Furthermore, it is crucial to establish a provision for no-fault divorce if the wife is educated and earning. Such a provision will contribute to the equitable distribution of assets during a divorce, limiting the potential for financial threat or abuse.

The call for these changes is not merely to manipulate the scales of justice, but to balance them. It's about altering the divorce law on a case by case basis to inhibit misuse of laws by anyone. Atul Subash's death by suicide due to unbearable persecution underscores the gravity of this issue. We cannot let more lives be lost or disrupted due to skewed legal processes.

Join us in calling for these necessary legal updates. This small step can prevent further tragedies and build a better, more equitable future. Please sign this petition today.
