I, like many others, have watched in horror as an independent nation is violated and an admirable society is attacked relentlessly both on and off the battlefield. As a common citizen, it's increasingly unbearable to see blatant admiration for the perpetrator by a public figure within our own country. I am talking about the admiration Nigel Farage has expressed for Vladimir Putin. Farage, a well-known political figure, is seen by many as a symbolic representation of mischief and divisiveness, and his appreciation for Putin adds to this immeasurably.

The admiration of Farage for Putin, a man who invades sovereign nations and whose force is reportedly assaulting innocent civilians, fosters a threat not only to an abstract sense of justice, but it is personally threatening, driving fear into the hearts of my loved ones and me.

This petition hence calls for the enforced seclusion of Farage and for Reform U.K., the organization he co-chairs, to be designated as a proscribed entity until the conflict with Russia is over. I believe such measures are necessary to protect the country from dangerous influences and divisive ideologies.

We need to ensure that individuals and organisations within our nation can not aid or influence the dire state of affairs abroad. The House of Commons Library reveals a precedence of similar actions as the UK has proscribed various groups for national security reasons in the past. We need to follow suit now, if the circumstances warrant it.
